HSCT FAQs

What is HSCT?

HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplant) is a novel treatment being tested to treat multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune disorders.

The treatment involves harvesting a person's own stem cells, "killing off" their faulty immune system with chemotherapy and other drugs, and introducing the healthy stem cells to the person's system.

The stem cells essentially build back a brand new immune system that doesn't "remember" the autoimmune disease. It's kind of like turning your computer off and back on again when it stops working right.

Who is eligible for HSCT?

Multiple sclerosis patients with active disease (relapsing remitting) are the best candidates for HSCT. However, those with progressive forms of the disease have still been shown to benefit from the treatment. Learn more here: https://hsctwarriors.org/

Where is HSCT being done?

HSCT is currently available at many facilities in the United States and globally. For all locations and contact info, visit this page: https://hsctwarriors.org/locations/
